There are 3 levels of criminal record checks available.

 

Basic Disclosure – (previously known as a Basic CRB)

Standard DBS check  (previously known as Standard CRB Check)

Enhanced DBS check (previously known as Enhanced CRB Check)

 

What is a Basic Disclosure?

A Basic Disclosure contains details of convictions considered to be unspent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (ROA) or shows that there are no such convictions.

 

Who can apply for a Basic Disclosure?

Anyone can apply for a Basic Disclosure.

 

What are the Costs?

A Basic Disclosure is £41.80

 

What is a Standard DBS check and who can apply for it?

A Standard Disclosure contains details of any convictions considered to be spent/unspent.  The roles which you might need a Standard DBS check will involve positions involved in the Legal Profession, Financial Services, Security Industry. Types of positions can be Traffic Wardens, Veterinary surgeons, Accountants, Financial Advisor etc.

What are the Costs for a Standard DBS check?

A Standard DBS check is £52.34.

 

What is an Enhanced DBS check and who can apply for it?

A Enhanced DBS check contains details of any convictions considered to be spent/unspent. Enhanced DBS checks are for positions which involve regular contact with children or vulnerable adults.

Enhanced DBS checks are for positions which involve working in a regulated activity and come into contact with either children or vulnerable adults. Types of positions can be roles involved in Schools, Childcare premises, Children’s Hospitals, Adult Care homes.

 

What are the Costs for an Enhanced DBS check?

An Enhanced Disclosure is £69.86.
